The Canadian CSIA *Leaders in Teaching* is offering courses through an easy to follow level system. Level 1 courses are offered regionally while the level 2,3 and 4 are national monitored by the CSIA. The CSIA is, as normal in Canada, very clear about their guidelines and costs of the different courses. To join a course, surf to the CSIA main website (located beneath) . |
Level 1
|
The Level 1 course is an introduction to ski teaching, CSIA technique and methodology, and the role of ski teaching within the ski industry. It combines the basics of practical ski teaching methods, technical understanding and development of guest service skills, specifically addressing children’s skiing. - the programm -
The Level 1 Certification Course includes:
- an introduction to CSIA skiing and teaching methodology
- strategies to develop skiers from entry level to intermediate (parallel) using the skill development method
- techniques and strategies for effective assessment and development
- personal feedback on ski performance
- workshop on customer service
- workshop on teaching children

Level 2
|
The level 2 Certified Ski Instructor course content is directed at full and part-time ski instructors and includes: - the programm -
- techniques and strategies for effective communication, group dynamics, lesson planning and alternate teaching methods
- training in selection of skills for the development of parallel skiers
- developing strategies for effective analysis and development
- on-line workshops on guest service and teaching children

Level 3
|
The level 3 Certified Ski Instructor course is an advanced training certification. It includes: - the programm -
- development of strategies for effective communication, group dynamics, lesson planning and skill drill matching
- training in strategies to perfect and refine skiing skills for advanced skiers
- skiing and teaching methodology of advanced terrain (bumps)
- development of methods for effective analysis and development
- a workshops on mountain safety

Level 4
|
The level 4 Senior Ski Instructor is an expert, internationally recognized course designed to develop the abilities of experienced instructors into trainers and leaders. It includes: - the programm -
- developing techniques and strategies for teaching experts and develop instructors
- perfecting assessment and development skills at all levels of skiers and
- perfecting skiing and methodology on all terrain for all levels of skiers

- CSIA Level 3 + CSCF Development Level (Trained) + 2 day GS module or - CSIA Level 3 + CSGA Basic Skills Course + 2 day GS module or - CSIA Level 3 + CSCF Entry Level (Trained)+ Snow Park certification + 2 day GS module - Exempted from taking the 2 days GS modules are: Members with Level 3 CSCF OR with 100 FIS points or less. |

Modules

CSIA Modules are designed to upgrade and develop new skills. If your desire is to focus on a particular aspect of your development, attending a module is an excellent tool. It can be used an alternative for instructors who wish to continue their education in ski teaching without taking the next level of certification.
GS Training L3&4 This training camp is a prerequisite before registering for the Level 4 exams. The two-day GS camp provides technical and tactical training in a race environment for instructors preparing for the Level 4 Exams. It is also available to all Level 3s interested in improving their GS skills. CSCF will provide high-quality coaching in a safe and fun environment |

Snow Park Certification Already Certified Level 1 to 4 Instructors who wish to bring their classes into Snow Parks for some tricks no longer need the Snow Park “Certified” status. This two-day training provides instructors with a letter stating they are ‘Trained” individuals. This new option will cover them with the CSIA insurance liability policy. |
